Hello… Goodbye

Jason, Michael, and Dan at Mav's

You say goodbye; I say hello. The Beatles sang that on their “Magical, Mystery Tour” album. It’s really hard to say goodbye to friends and family. On December 29th, 2018 at 9pm, we are going to do it right.

I started playing solo acoustic shows back in winter of 2010. I was so moved by the earthquake that decimated Haiti, that I decided I was going to go to Haiti and do something about it. To make sure I had the money to go, I decided to start playing these gigs to finance it. I called up Maverick’s Wood Grill in Champlin, and they let in come in to play, not knowing a thing about me. Not only did they let me play, they gave me a donation to get me on my way.

Ever since, I have been coming back. I have made friends that have felt a lot more like family over these many years. There have been a lot of good times… and a few blizzards to keep things interesting. I love Mav’s. I love the food. I love the people.

Maverick’s has been really good to me. They have, unfortunately, made the decision that they will not continue with weekly live music in 2019. It is only fitting that I shut it down, but it’s going to make for a very emotional night. I can promise you an amazing show that night. Michael Campbell, Dan Nelson, and I will be giving it one last hurrah for old times sake. You won’t want to miss this one. Invite everyone you know.

Mav’s may still do music from time to time, so I’m hoping that this is not, in fact, goodbye, but a “see ya round”. Thank you Chase, Amber, Dan, Katie, Ryan, Ben, Leah, Jeff, Larry, Tony, Eric, Jason, Barb, and everyone else that has made me dinner, kept me hydrated, or brought my tip bucket around over the last many years! I love you guys!
